11/27/2021 Commentary:
Big sell-off in Match Group over the past few weeks. I expect it to bottom at or above 130 and I’m looking to sell put spreads well below that to give some additional buffer. I would like to see a bit more stabilizing in price, so this may go on later in the week.
Overall, I am planning to put on fewer put spreads while the market is volatile after last Friday’s 2%+ sell-off. I am looking to sell some puts in names where I want to add shares to take advantage of the lower prices And higher premiums. When markets are moving a lot, taking a step back and Not trading or reducing size is a fine idea, especially if you are less comfortable in these scenarios.

11/29/2021 Entry:
Sold Dec 31 MTCH 115/110 put spreads for 0.54. Market has recovered some and this keeps the same strikes at a later date for a bit more premium.
12/5/2021 Update:
The downtrend in MTCH has continued and we’re down a bit. This is the first visit below 130 in a long time for MTCH and closing for a small loss is ok if you want to reduce vol in your account. I’m going to hold, personally and re-assess at the end of the week.
12/12/2021 Update:
The MTCH put spreads are basically flat. There is still a lot of volatility in this name. I intend to hold through the week as we still have about 3 weeks before expiration. If it closes below 120, I would consider getting out of the trade (currently above 130).
12/19/2021 Update:
We are down just a bit on the MTCH put spreads. No planned change to the position this week. We still have almost two weeks to go.
12/24/2021 Update:
MTCH along with most of the rest of the market had a nice week. Our put spreads are only worth 0.03 and expire this week – close when you can and book the win. I’ll be on travel for most of the week and may just let them expire if I don’t get to them.
1/2/2022 Close:
The MTCH put spreads expired worthless, adding another $54 of profit per put spread sold, or $108 based on 2 spreads (<5% risk on 25k account). Not too much more to add to this relatively straightforward trade.
