Trade Ideas – week of 2022-10-10

10/9/2022 Plan:

This week we return to Crowdwstrike (Ticker: CRWD)

10/9/2022 Plan (continued):

  • CRWD – Sell Nov 11 135/130 put spreads for 0.47
  • Prices are as of market close 10/7/2022, actual fill and strikes may differ depending on Monday’s open, post will be updated accordingly.
  • All trades are for educational purposes and do not constitute advice

10/9/2022 Commentary:

A pretty simple far out of the money put spread with a high volatility name. This is a riskier play given how much CRWD can move, so if you are looking to reduce volatility, feel free to sit this one out.

Feel free to Reach out with questions on this or anything else!

10/10/2022 Entry:

Sold CRWD Nov 11 125/120 put spreads for 0.48. Note that with the sell off, we’ve gone with lower strikes.

10/16/2022 Update:

The CRWD put spreads moved against us, but with a Lot of time and a Lot of room between the current stock price and the short strike, I’m holding longer.

10/23/2022 Update:

The CRWD put spreads can be closed for 0.32, which is a profit of $16 per put spread sold. I am planning to hold them longer to try and capture more profit. The position has 3 more weeks before expiration.

10/30/2022 Update:

The CRWD put spreads can now be closed for 0.07 at the mid point which would be a $41 profit per put spread sold. There are still two weeks left on this trade, so taking the profit at any time is a fine plan. I’ll close for 0.05 if I can and have enough time during the week to do so. Otherwise, I’ll leave them to decay. This name can move quick, so don’t let it turn into a loser.

11/5/2022 Update:

As discussed last week CRWD can move quickly and being able to close at 0.07 was a good move. If you didn’t close, please note they expire this week. With CRWD near 127, they are Very close to being ITM.

11/12/2022 Close:

Great move up in the market and in CRWD and the put spreads expired worthless if you hadn’t already taken them off previously. That results in $48 of profit per put spread sold. I had closed the week prior for $0.06 – either way one made a nice profit.
